It is possible to model layouts, or work (as I do) with virtual layouts in simulators such as Trainz for years without truly appreciating the "whys" and "wherefores" of the actual design and consists. This textbook has the answers. I say "textbook" because it reads like one. Packed with overwhelming amounts of information, this book can be daunting on the first pass.
