Amazon Customer said Same old info. This book covers the basic information that most addicts already know. Using guilt to drive someone to right behavior is not always effective. I was hoping the author spoke more of the thinking patterns that leads to "acting out", and ways to actually get help, besides "finding a sponsor." Not a bad book, but very very basic from someone who experienced physical and emotional abuse. I was hoping he addressed questions like "how did the abuse lead to the addiction?" "What sort of things were addressed with the counselors that gave real hope for re. Art Snead This is an excellent 'primer' for the person who wonders if (s)he has, or is on the way to having, a sexual addiction. It is written by a college professor but reads clearly and simply as if he is carrying on a personal conversation with you. His own story at the beginning removes all doubt about his struggle with this addiction--here is a man who has "been there, done that" and has experienced genuine recovery. I wish I had read this many years ago, before I had destroyed two marriages.
