DESCRIPTION:

The Superbikes -- 748, 851, 888, 916, and 996 -- are now Ducati's best-selling machines in the United States; and the Desmoquattro engine found its way into the company's more pedestrian series such as the Monster roadster and ST4 sport-tour. Road-going versions soon carried that success to the general public, proving this design wasn't just another noisy prototype. The bike found success on the world's racetracks right from the start. Ducati stunned the world in 1988 when the struggling, small Italian firm unleashed its Desmoquattro -- 8-valve, desmodromic -- Superbike. Very informative with mucho factory specs which must have been hard to obtain.only thing missing is real world issues not mentioned.recalls? Chrome flaking off the rocker arms destroying engines zero mention.would have been a plus to know exactley which models are affected.also a low battery can take out the voltage regulator, and there is an upgrade that could help owners.. "For Engineers Only!! Very Technical Book" according to C. Roehl. I'll start this by saying I am a die-hard Ducati fan. I've ridden the legendary 916 and have a pretty diverse riding background--albeit mostly sportbikes. This is an extremely technical book--fantastic pictures, but the written portion is equal to a captured discussion with the bikes technical designers.
