The Bibliothèque Nationale de France, the Musée d'Aurillac, the IVAM Centre Julio González and the Museum of Fine Art in Houston have photos by him in their collections. He has been awarded the Laus Prize on six occasions and the National Design Prize in 1992.. In 1965 he arrived in Barcelona, where he worked as a free-lance designer. From 1967 onwards he also works as a teacher in Barcelona's Escola Eina as well as other schools and institutions. In doing so, Sanchez has brought out of anonymity a multitude of spontaneous graphic artists: sign-writers, painters, engravers, sculptors, metalworkers, stained-glass workers and more. Self-taught as an artist, his early training was marked by the so-called 'Swiss School', via Josef Müller-Brockmann's book The Graphic Artist and his Design Problems. Looking at this work, Barcelona can gaze into the mirror of its anonymous graphic art to recover another element of the city's rich heritage.
