DESCRIPTION:
This authoritative guide has been developed with access to the technical expertise of the leading centrifugal pump developer, Sulzer Pumps. This long-awaited new edition is the complete reference for engineers and designers working on pump design and development or using centrifugal pumps in the field. In addition to providing the most comprehensive centrifugal pump theory and design reference with detailed material on cavitation, erosion, selection of materials, rotor vibration behavior and forces acting on pumps, the handbook also covers key pumping applications topics and operational issues, including operating performance in various types of circuitry, drives and acceptance testing.Enables readers to understand, specify and utilise centrifugal pumps more effectively, drawing on the industry-leading experience of Sulzer Pumps, one of the world's major centrifugal pump developers.Covers theory, design and operation, with an emphasis on providing first class quality and efficiency solutions for high capital outlay pump plant users.Updated to cover the latest design and technology developments, including applications, test and reliability procedures, cavitation, erosion, selection of materials, rotor vibration behaviour and operating perform
A good engineering reference This book offers a clear presentation of centrifugal pumps design and operation. Specifically, I appreciate the links between mechanical design and other disciplines (electrical, corrosion, piping, fluid dynamics, ).To summarize : logical development of concepts chapters after chapters, high quality illustrations and photos, practical data and precise wording. The book covers pump fundamentals in details, factory test acceptance criteria, specific issues (e.g. intake design, pressure surge, noise, vibrations), pipes & valves (notions), drives of all ki. This book was written by a committee - and it shows. I could not disagree more with the previous reviewer - while the Contents Page for this textbook may seem impressive in its coverage of Centrifugal Pumps and the graphics may look good, at a cursory glance, in my view the book's deficiencies are so numerous that I strongly advise the reader to look elsewhere. If you are looking for a reference book where you may need to brush up on the fundamentals (plus more), this is NOT the text for you. There is no listing of the symbols or subscripts used and those that are used are neither consistent nor guessab
