"Very nice" according to Jen. This was a nice quick easy read that had one of my favorite plot devices to start the novel off with. We are immediately introduced to Dale and Taren who are playing on opposite teams in a charity softball game. Sparks fly because these two women cannot stand each other. Dale's deceased partner was Taren's sister and all we know initially is that these two do not get along. I really enjoy these love/hate relationships . Avid Reader said Joplin and the Tornado. Personally knowing someone who lived in Joplin when the big tornado hit, I was aware that there was devastation in some areas (not my friend's). This book takes you into the storm itself and then through the aftermath. Little details about personal losses make the devastation perfectly clear. The story is full of people the reader is sure to like, and the love story is solidly set forth. Kenna White is a very good writ. "Struggle and growth after the EF-5 Tornado" according to RLynne. Kenna White calls Joplin, Missouri her hometown. She interviewed the residents after the disasterous EF-5 tornado flattened their town. She uses thier thoughts, feelings, and memories to make Simple Pleasures, a book which starts with the tornado, vividly real and believeable.
