A beautiful, powerful book you won't forget Luna Merbruja Ryka Aoki wrote one of my favorite books. As someone who has read a book a month for the past 3 years, it's rare that a book stays in my mind after reading more books. I couldn't put this memoir down. I was completely enveloped in her story, in how poetic and inspiring she was in describing her life, her struggles, and her accomplishments.As a writer, Aoki opened my mind to the possibilities of creative writing in combining different writing styles in one book. I highly encourage any reader to give this book the time and attention it deserves.

She is a professor of English at Santa Monica College. Ryka Aoki is a writer, performer, musician, and educator who appears in the documentaries "Diagnosing Difference" and "Riot Acts." Her work is featured in Gender Outlaws: The Next Generation and Tranfeminist Perspectives. She has been honored by the California State Senate for her "extraordinary commitment to free speech and artistic expression, as well as the visibility and well-being of Transgender people." Ryka has
