DESCRIPTION:
From the Back Cover This book effectively integrates computing concepts into the number theory curriculum using a heuristic approach and strong emphasis on rigorous proofs. . Its in-depth coverage of modern applications considers the latest trends and topics, such as elliptic curves—a subject that has seen a rise in popularity in the undergraduate curriculum
Greg Doyle said Riddled with errors. A good intro to Number Theory for non-mathematicians. (Specfically, excellent for anyone who wants to pick up cryptography.)However, the numerous errors found throughout the book take away from it's impact. Not to mention some outdated algorithms in Chapter 5.A lower price would make this a better buy.. Isaac Asimov said Excellent, with some errors. This is a very good book: simple yet rich. However, there are errors which prevents this book from being great.I love the way proofs are presented. So far I could verify myself (by thinking) every line I read. It is an inspiring intro for me (having some maths background) into interesting results (and proofs) of number theory. Now that I know there are errors, when I find something incongruous I work that out myself and check Internet. Works for me.. Excellent This is a wonderfull book for people looking to combine their math skills with technology. The book also is easy to follow and understand for those with no computer skills.
