DESCRIPTION:
from Stanford University and is the co-author of a book entitled Machines that Walk (MIT Press). from Purdue University and has written more than 100 publications on CAD/CAM, manufacturing, rapid design prototyping, kinematics and linkage design, design of machine elements, and sheet metal forming. . He received his Ph.D. Gary Kinzel, Associate Chairman at The Ohio State University, has been teaching for more than 25 years. Nordholt Professor and Department Chairman at the Ohio State Uni
few positives things to say The graphical approaches given in this book are a great way to learn the material and this is something that is sorely missing in other texts in this subject. However, this does not compensate for the fact that this book was poorly edited and contains numerous errors (present in both editions). I do not recommend this book to students or to inter. "Horrible!" according to NoOne. This textbook is horrible! There are no solutions to any of the problems at the end of the chapter. The solutions to the example problems are miserable as well. It gives you a diagram for a system of bars and doesn't explain why they count n links or j joints or anything. If you take a course requiring this book, think again.. "Not worth the paper it is printed on" according to c_e_. I am a ME student currently taking a kinematics and mechatronics class that uses this book. Reading this book has been an absolute chore and learning anything from it has been very difficult. Concepts are either very poorly explained or not explained at all. That's not, however, for lack of trying as most explanations are extremely wordy and over
* The book introduces spatial mechanisms using both vectors and matrices, which introduces the topic from two vantage points. * Comprehensive and authoritative coverage. * Several real-world problems are included to show how to apply the basic principles in a realistic setting.
Included with the book is a set of programs, written in MATLAB, which can be run to illustrate kinematics principles. The source code is also provided so readers can modify and customize the programs. From the Publisher A perfect refresher on the kinematics and dynamics of machinery. The book uses analytical techniques, without complex mathematics, in the design of mechanical devices.
