A Poem to Mid Life and Beyond G. Moss This book is a poem about life as it unfolds in our middle years and beyond. I have made is a habit of purchasing used copies, when I can find them, and giving them out to friends and acquaintances in return for a promise that the book will be read and passed on. I know from personal testimonials that Hal Raynes' love song has brought both awareness and peace to lives in trouble. If you have an interest in fly fishing, read the book. It expresses the essence of fly fishing. If you have no interest in fly fishing, read the book. It expresses the mystery and majesty of life.. Fishing Parts Are Good - So Is The Unintended Irony I believe I came to this book via a reference to it in another book, The Power of Intention, by Wayne Dyer - although I do not remember the context of the reference, nor can I confirm it easily, since Dyer's book contains no index. At any rate, being Fishing Parts Are Good - So Is The Unintended Irony thoreau I believe I came to this book via a reference to it in another book, The Power of Intention, by Wayne Dyer - although I do not remember the context of the reference, nor can I confirm it easily, since Dyer's book contains no index. At any rate, being 44 years old & harboring an as yet unexercised interest in fly fishing, the title of Mr. Raines' book, plus whatever context the Dyer reference provided, was impetus enough for me to purchase & read it. I enjoyed the fly fishing specific passages. I enjoyed the fly fishing as metaphor for life musings. I enjoyed the recipes. Even the errors of fact embraced by the main characters, Raines. As a lifelong fly fisherman and reader of the sportI purposefully avoided this book for a few years. Judging by its cover, I thought the title cliché, the story probably too common-- you know, middle-aged professional whining about his state in life, his boss, his relationships, and the little fishing he does now doesn't fil in the numerous gaps.Boy was I wrong.Raines is a skilled writer and storyteller, and this book is truly a great adventure and window into a lifetime of fishing-- people (and fishing) of all sorts, the highs and lows of life, at times hilarious, others sorrowful. Funny characters, recipes, death and dying,
