This book spent so much time going into the background of Faith and then sort of "fast forwarded" through a lot of the relationship like she was trying to get to the ending too quickly. So much more could have been written after the women got together. A lot of the family background and historical research Faith did was really a waste of tim. The story is heartfelt, but what I found most captivating was the persona of Faith, perhaps because--as a writer--she is allowed to show off her verbal wit. And it is this capacity for verbal sparring that makes her ultimately irresistible to her eventual lover. This book is Kallmaker at her most civilized.. "DISAPPOINTED MIDDLE AND END." according to L. MARTINI. I HAVE READ ABOUT 6 OR 8 LESBIAN ROMANCE NOVELS SO FAR. I DON'T CONSIDER MYSELF AN EXPERT. BUT I DO READ ALOT IN ADDITION TO LESBIAN ROMANCE. I FOUND I KEPT WAITING FOR MORE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CHARACTERS. THEY HARDLY GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER AND IT WASN'T A SMOOTH TRANSITION FROM ONE CHARACTER TO ANOTHER WHEN IT WAS THEIR TURN TO DO THE TALKING. I WILL GIVE ANOTHER KALLMAKER BOOK A CHANCE, BECAUSE OF THE SYNOPSIS. HOWEVER I HAVE READ A FEW OTHER AUTHORS THAT I WILL BE READING ALL THEIR MATE
