The best of the series A Customer This volume in the N.O. Architecture series by the Friends of the Cabildo is, in my opinion, the best of the entire series. Perhaps it is because this is the section of the city in which I spend most of my time, a place to which I've become rather attached. Growing up in this section of New Orleans, I was pleasantly surprised to see several homes of my childhood friends. No other city in the U.S. has such distinct and diverse neighborhood architecture. Another great volume in a GREAT series.. "Great stories about history of uptown New Orleans" according to J. Lyons. Great coffee table book and sort of a collectors item since they aren't printed hard cover anymore.
Charles Avenue in this historic section. This section of Uptown New Orleans gets its name from the various colleges and universities that have existed within its boundaries. Loyola and Tulane are two architecturally diverse universities that line St. Charles Avenue to the modest shotgun homes and cottages scattered around the perimeter of the section.The New Orleans Architecture Series (see page 21) celebrated its 25th anniversary in 1996.
