DESCRIPTION:
Great book for an introduction to Microcontrollers Stanward S. M. Oshiro Although the 8052 processor is very outdated, it still can be used to control many things in this ever-so-hi-tech-world. The 8052 proves to be a very affordable microcontroller, rather than buying a full blown computer or PC104-based computer. This book is very introductory, but it does assume you know basic electronics. The 8052 is no where near as complex as an FPGA, but the programming rituals can prepare you before you learn the basics of programming the FPGA(theory and your thinking of logic). The experience gained by playing around with the 8052 sure. A Customer said Excellent Information. This book made my project possible. All of the information that I needed on Microcontrollers was in this book. It even has a list of companies that supply the hardware that she discusses. When I started my project, I believed that I would have a hard time finding information. To my surprise it was all in one book :)If you are working with Microcontrollers, this book is a necessity!. Excellent Book webmaster@rentron.com Jan has done an exceptional job putting together this book. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in microcontroller technology. This book includes many examples of Interface & Control techniques/circuits.
With over 100 commands, instructions, and operators, the BASIC-52 interpreter can do much more than other single-chip BASICs. Presents practical designs for use in data loggers, controllers, and other small-computer applications. A hands-on introduction to microcontroller project design with dozens of example circuits and programs. Example circuits and programs in the book are based on the popular 8052-BASIC microcontroller, whose on-chip BASIC programming language makes it easy to write, run, and test your programs. Its abilities include floating-point math, string handling, and special commands for storing programs in EPROM, EEPROM, or battery-backed RAM.
Jan's articles have appeared in Circuit Cellar, EDN, Embedded Systems Programming, and Nuts & Volts.. Jan's books include USB Embedded Hosts, USB Complete, Serial Port Complete, and USB Mass Storage. Jan Axelson writes about computer programming and electronic technology
A week spent soaking up these practical concepts will help ground them in reality and balance the four years of theory still ringing in their ears. From Scientific American an ideal introduction to low-end embedded design.Axelson takes the reader from essentially no knowledge of programming through Basic while offering lots of insight into the design of simple embedded systems. The next time I hire new CS or EE graduates, I plan to have them work through both Bebop to the Boolean Boogie and The Microcontroller Idea Book.
