DESCRIPTION:

My 2-cent 2-Cents The title of the book suggests that this is a monograph on a very specialized topic. However, surprisingly, its first two chapters cover some of the basics of mathematics and Fourier optics in such a clear way that, in my opinion, it would be useful even for undergraduates in physics or engineering to understand. The rest of the chapters of course go into "Optical scanning holography." The author takes time to explain optical scanning concept, basic holography concept and finally the combination . A good introduction to fourier optics The good:I read this book because I've always had an interest in computational holography, but have no background in optics apart from what I picked up in a college Physics course. The first couple of chapters were a good enough introduction to Fourier optics that I was able to follow along, even with my limited background. The examples in the book are clear and straightforward, and work in FreeMat with minimal modification. The bad:The last chapter really feels tacked-on, and doesn't contain as m. Five Stars Excellent book on the subject.

The book has been written by one of the leading researchers in the field. It covers the basic principles of the topic which will make the book relevant for years to come.. This book contains tutorials, research materials, as well as new ideas and insights that will be useful for those working in the field of optics and holography. Optical Scanning Holography is an exciting new field with many potential novel applications

From the Back CoverOptical scanning holography (OSH) is an emerging area of interest with many potential novel applications, such as 3-D pattern recognition, 3-D microscopy, 3-D cryptography, and 3-D optical remote sensing.Optical Scanning Holography with MATLAB® introduces readers to the latest advances of electronic (or digital) holography and succinctly covers the necessary mathematical background and wave optics that pertain to Fourier optics and holography. Optical scanning holography is explained in a manner that enables readers to begin implementing their own setups for novel OSH applications. Optical Scanning Holography with MATLAB® consists of tutorials (with numero
