If you've gotten this far, you will probably enjoy Nevada. It is not as if you were trying to decide between Nevada and the latest James Patterson book, right? Or, maybe you are, and Nevada will make no sense to you.Nevada is a novel about a transsexual person, but it is not about transition. In that respect, it is self-consciously alone in its genre. Given that it's the author's first book, and given that the product description makes it sound like trite, un-edited pulp, it is surprisingly well-written in an absolute sense, an. Great book Donna S. The thing that is most extraordinary about this novel should not be. Nevada shows a transperson as a fully complex human being. Personal and societal experience with gender is explored, but not in a vacuum. It is wonderful to see fully rounded characters addressing issues that feel real.

Nevada is the darkly comedic story of Maria Griffiths, a young trans woman living in New York City and trying to stay true to her punk values while working retail. When she finds out her girlfriend has lied to her, the world she thought she’d carefully built for herself begins to unravel, and Maria sets out on a journey that will most certainly change her forever.
