DESCRIPTION:
was thirty-three years old. A father, a grandfather, and a great- grandfather, Larry King is a man who can tell some tales. Married eight times, Larry didn’t actually meet the son who had been named after him until Larry King Jr. For a half century, he has been host to the world’s most influential figures, and after some 40,000 inter- views, here is King’s own remarkable and riveting story, from his humble roots in Depression-era Brooklyn to the heights of celebrity as host of CNN’s Larry King Live. In My Remarkable Journey, King tells his colorful story of growing up on Relief in Brooklyn, his early passion for broadcasting, his ascendance in Miami radio, and his early friendship with Jackie Gleason and Frank Sinatra. He has been fired, incarcerated, struggled with a three-pack-a-day smoking habit, had a heart attack and quintuple bypass surgery, and founded the Larry King Cardiac Foundation. And he does it with humor and candor.. Larry King’s trademark suspenders and unmistakable voice are known around the world to millions of viewers who have made him a permanent fixture in their living rooms every night
Larry's Having A Ball Bill Emblom It is safe to say that Larry King has led a complicated life with all his marriages, but he is having a blast. Larry manages to keep himself young by surrounding himself with a young wife, two young sons, and a myriad of other people. He manages to keep the questioning of his guests on his television show simple rather than set up a lengthy list of questions in advance. The part of the book in which he describes his heart attack, and subsequent fear of surgery will be recognizable to those who have had a similar experience. It required this harsh wake-up. Or Larry's Big Adventure I have purchased many of Larry King's books over the years but this is the first one that I found interesting enough to have read cover-to-cover (in two days). For the first time, Larry (he says that everyone calls him Larry) lets the reader learn about the various personal aspects of his unbelievable (and, yes, true to the title, "remarkable life"). Who else in show business went to Jackie Robinson's first game as a Brooklyn Dodger, bumped into JFK's car in Palm Beach, Florida (two years before JFK became president and with JFK driving), got Jackie Glea. "A "REAL" Story" according to Sharon R. Sprunger. I liked this book!!! I've watch "Larry King Live" for years but now feel like I've gotten to know this guy. It's candid, funny, casual, etc. - I felt like he stopped by my home to visit me. I don't always agree with Larry but have such respect for the insights he shares about himself. He lets you know where and why he has stumbled in life - hangups are not hidden. At the same time, he has an affirming view of himself and his ongoing accomplishments wrapped in thankfulness and appreciation to those who helped him along the way. Sharon Sprunger, Las Vegas,
Rejected by the army for bad eyesight and uninterested in going to college, he got his break filling in for a deejay at a radio station in Miami, where he took the name King in a pinch. From Publishers Weekly In this humorous, anecdotal account, King at 75-plus marvels good-naturedly at his staying power for a half-century as a talk-show host for radio and TV. King, writing with Fussman (After Jackie), has produced a cultural history as much as a personal testimony, touching on world-shaping events over the last 50 years and sharing, with inimitable humor and grace, some quirky POVs from King's family and friends. Despite being fired in 1971 for financial shenanigans, King swept back on the air in Washington, D.C., before being hired to host a show for Ted Turner
