DESCRIPTION:

An Instructor's Manual presenting detailed solutions to all the problems in the book is available from the Wiley editorial department.. This book presents fundamental passive optical network (PON) concepts, providing you with the tools needed to understand, design, and build these new access networks. The logical sequence of topics begins with the underlying principles and components of optical fiber communication technologies used in access networks. Next, the book progresses from descriptions of PON and fiber-to-the-X (FTTX) alternatives to their application to fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) networks and, lastly, to essential measurement and testing procedures for network installation and maintenance

From the Back CoverThe ever-growing requests for more bandwidth from applications running over the Internet are driving the need to upgrade access networks with high-capacity connections. The logical sequence of topics begins with the underlying principles and components of optical fiber communication technologies used in access networks. Next, the book progresses from descriptions of PON and fiber-to-the-X (FTTX) alternatives to their application to fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) networks and, lastly, to essential measurement and testing procedures for network installation and maintenance.A wealth of practical material and special features enables readers to grasp the differences among the major types of PON architectures and identify the pros and cons of FTTX alternatives, including:A detailed overview of optical cables, passive components, and transceivers needed to implement FTTP networksIllustrations of FTTP implementation criteria in different categories of neighborhoods, optical p

Fttx Concepts and Applications Leo It's just the best technology book I've red. It's helping me with monograph. Easily to understant, explain step by step. Thanks.. F. Azam said Lacking real world implementation examples. Not a bad book if you want to understand the behind the scene details of the fiber transport technologies, but if you are wanting to take the details and apply it to real world implementation, there is a lot to be desired.I would not recommend this book to someone who is trying to implement FTTX, but its a good book for someone who is really tryi. Decent Book I have been reading several FTTX books as research and most of them I have found wanting, however this one I have found to be accurate as far as the details that he goes into. It is obvious that Dr. Keiser is very comfortable in writing about the technical characteristics of optical fiber (especially as he has written other books about fiber). I
