Low cost alternative to factory shop manual. Haynes and the identical Chilton repair manuals are a better than nothing alternative to the very hi priced factory service manual. The better Bentley service manuals (if available for your application) split the difference in price between the two. I purchased this for my 2008 Silverado. The back cover shows a small sample page suggesting the hi def quality of the photos and page stock. In reality the photos and pages are only newspaper (lower) quality. Some illustrations are inaccurate. . Good For the Weekend Mechanic M. Speck A great book for the weekend mechanic or experienced hobby mechanic. Works great for those weekend projects or doing your own maintenance. Probably not the best book for beginners or newbies. It seems to be written with the assumption that the reader has previous mechanical experience. Also the quality of the paper is poor/delicate. Pages probably will not stand up to constant shop use or abuse.. "It's like a cookbook with 250 incomplete recipes" according to Ed. This is a very general manual, but for the money they didn't do a bad job. It would impossible to really detail every part, repair and illustration. If you're looking for something with general information about your truck, then this would probably be okay. I've used Haynes in the past and they've got me through some repairs. But today's cars and trucks are a lot more complicated. If nothing else, it might give you an idea of what you're Service Adviser is telling you.
